Overlay refers to how much larger the door is than the opening of the cabinet. If the Opening is 12 inches wide & the door is 13 inches wide, than the overlay is 1/2 Inch. Overlay is Door Width minus Door opening, divided by two. (13" minus 12" = 1" divided by two = 1/2" Overlay
